Super sloppy concept sketching, I rarely do drawings like this (stuff laid on top of each other up the wazoo), but I'm just trying to get a good handle on things. I've been trying to think up some ideas for my fourth year film which drove me through quite a few weird ideas (including doing an animation about the four horsemen of the apocalypse as dysfunctional children in a day care which I'm still trying to flesh out), but finally found something that I'm genuinely starting to get a sincere liking to and the basic idea is completely fleshed out. It's basically a story about a girl who's been born with a horrible disease that causes everyone she comes into physical contact with to die. Sounds kind of depressing but the more I keep thinking about it, the more I can't help but laugh. Obviously there's more to it than just that but. I guess I don't want to divulge everything hurhurhur.
Going to actually start storyboarding it soon ... and then put it away tout suite and way an extended period of time before I retackle it, just so I can look at it with fresh eyes. I'll probably keep doing that for a while until the school year starts and I can start talking to teachers about it for their input.
So in order to get it better fleshed out I'm playing with styles. Trying to get into the habit of making my doodling style (which is so much more loose and animated than my normal stuff) more consistent and easier to tap into outside of the realm of boredom. Anyway, keep an eye posted if you're curious for more. I'll probably end up scanning my rough storyboards (at least some of them) onto here. This is mostly me trying to not get caught without anything last minute, and the rest is just me needing something to do. My plans are for it to be an oral narrative with some dialogue from the characters themselves. For this one, I'm thinking I don't want it more than 2 and half minutes. If I can cut it down to shorter than that it would be quite awesome, it's supposed to be a comedy so hopefully I can get to the punchline in time.
